OUR STORY

We are a group of creative people with backgrounds in teaching, research, design, and marketing. We are a global “digital tribe” and we are spread throughout the world including Canada, Norway, Sweden, and the U.S. Most of us have families and children and some of us have never met IRL. We love learning and growing, and we believe that visual communication can create effective meaning and change in our daily lives.

Our story begins on a typical weekday morning when the founder of Vymbol, a wife and working mother of two, found herself rushed, stressed and frustrated. But this wasn’t the first time she experienced these feelings, in fact, it seemed to happen every morning. It wasn’t just limited to the morning, these feelings. They crept up during the transition from school to back home, as well as in the evening while trying to put the kids to bed. Over coffee with friends who had their own stories, or shared a friend of friend’s stories, she quickly learned these feelings were all too common.

Inspired, determined and relieved (that this seemed to be the norm), she began to search for tools to help bring about a structure and routine during these hectic times of the day. What she found surprised her – there was a major lack of resources available. Very limited resources in regards to visual tool products and hardly any resources with simple, clear and engaging designs that would appeal to everyone in the family.

Vymbol became the answer. Grounded in psychology, communication practices and visual communication, the origins of Vymbol arose from an all too common need in our busy, everyday family lives.
